Join us for the opening reception of Americans Interned: A Family's Story of Social Injustice. Drummers from Seattle Kokon Taiko will perform at 7:30 pm.
Featuring portraits by Chris Hopkins and mixed media pieces by Jan Hopkins, “Americans Interned”, offers a compelling view of the incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII. Jan's family emigrated from Japan in the early 1900s, became American citizens, lived and thrived in the Seattle area until they were forced to relocate to Camp Minidoka, Idaho after Executive Order #9066 was signed into law in February 1942.
Jan and Chris have worked tirelessly for almost 5 years, researching and creating a conceptual and narrative exhibition, both historical and deeply personal.
Exhibit dates are June 14 - September 1, 2018
Admission is Free
